Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 29 September 2023
The central theme of the Bible is the love of God for mankind and His yearning for us to return to Him from our wayward ways. The whole message of the Bible may be summed up in the word, “Come” in v.18. Despite all that the people of Judah and Jerusalem had done to provoke God to anger, He still appeals to them to meet Him for a conversation about the way forward. Amazing love, how can this be! His steadfast love never ceases, and His mercies endure forever.
How is the scarlet turned into wool (white)? This is the essence of the salvation God offers to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. God calls us to accept the price Jesus paid for our sins through His suffering and death on the cross to take away the punishment we deserved. See 1 Peter 2:24-25.
God was, and still is, magnanimous, but He will not do so for ever. Persistent sin and rebellion will attract sure punishment. In the same way, salvation and restoration await those who accept the invitation to, “Come.” (Matthew 11:28).
