Scripture Union Daily Guide 2nd April 2025 Outline

When we see people’s successes, we must remember that there are stories behind those successes. These days, people just want to achieve the same success as others without going through their stories of trials and experiences. People want Abraham’s success without his trials of years of barrenness and demand to surrender his only son. David eventually became a highly successful and enviable king fighting 66 battles and losing none.

But see all the troubles and humiliations he passed through here. He even had to pretend to be mad to escape death. But he did not need to lie to achieve deliverance. God had already planned it all out.
Although we may be under pressure of threat of death, and face the temptation to compromise, believers must resist it and insist on uprightness and a life God can boast of.

Abimelech appears totally innocent of what was going on and Doeg seemed aware of this, yet he betrayed the priests of the Lord and helped Saul to slaughter eighty-five priests and their families later. Jesus made reference to David’s action in 1 Samuel 21:4-6 (Matthew 12:3-4).

And So:
Betrayal, often done for some personal gain, is evil and will not go unpunished.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Father, help me to walk through the path you have set out for me patiently and in holiness so I can achieve success and fulfil destiny.
