Scripture Union Daily Guide 2nd March 2025 Outline:
In these two brief parables, Jesus compares the kingdom of God to both the mustard seed and the yeast (Matthew 13:31-35). The mustard seed is small but when it is planted, it grows to become a large tree with branches that provide shelter to birds of the air. In like manner, small yeast added to a dough of flour, spreads through the dough and provides much food to feed many people.
Like yeast, the kingdom of God spreads its influence throughout the entire world. It changes the whole world as a light that shines in the darkness and illuminates everywhere. It is also like the salt that serves as a sweetener and a preservative.
When Jesus started preaching, only a few people followed and believed in Him. Most of the people rejected Him, mocked Him and finally killed Him. And even His disciples deserted Him! But today, by the power of the Holy Spirit, from that negligible number of disciples, a mighty church has grown, and it has spread to every country of the world. We can contribute our quota in spreading the gospel to the entire world irrespective of our strength and number.
