Scripture Union Daily Guide 30th March 2025 Outline

Our passage describes the institution of three feasts that the Jews must observe annually. These feasts must be holy convocations and so the animals sacrificed must be without defects (Numbers 28:31, Numbers 29:2,8). Today we may not bring animal sacrifices, instead we present our bodies to the Lord as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2).

The Feast of Weeks came 50 days after the feast of the unleavened bread. It is also called the Feast of Harvest in Exodus 23:16 and Pentecost (Acts 2:1). This is when Israel brought their finest fruit of their farm to the Lord. Today, Christians celebrate Pentecost as the day the Holy Spirit came upon believers and filled them with power for service. It marked the birth of the Church.

The Feast of Trumpets (Numbers 28:27-29) came at the beginning of the seventh month which led to the Day of Atonement, the holiest day. The Jews fast and abstain from all works. It is the only day in the year that the High Priest enters the Holy of Holies to atone for the sins of the people. This also depicts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ made only once on the cross of Calvary for our sins.
Hence, we are to keep in mind that God demands that we maintain holiness as we celebrate in our gatherings (1 Peter 1:14-16).

Feast of Blessing
1. Blest are the hungry; they shall be fed;
Jesus a feast has kindly spread;
Come and receive; only believe;
Jesus will freely, freely give.

Refrain
2. All things are ready—come and see;
Ready for you, ready for me;
O what a feast of richest blessing,
Crowned with a Savior’s love!

3. Out in the highway, go and proclaim
Welcome to all in Jesus’ name;
Bread to the poor, bread evermore,
Jesus will freely, freely give.

4. Sweet invitation! How can we slight
Him who will make our path so bright?
All we require, all our desire,
Jesus will freely, freely give.

Closing Prayer:
Father, help me to always bear in mind that you demand holiness as I come before your presence.
