Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 March 2023

While the Passover, a joyful celebrations and reminder of God’s mighty deliverance of Israel from bondage in Egypt, which is also symbolic of what the Messiah was to do for them, was going on; the Jewish leaders and the chief Priests were planning how to arrest Jesus and put Him to death. What does this tell us about these leaders and their religion?

The heart of the un-regenerate is full of evil and poison (Jeremiah 17:9)? Satan has blinded the eyes of the un-regenerated people such that anything spiritual is foolishness to them (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Thank God, there are many like Mary who will sacrifice anything to show their love and appreciation for the great salvation and deliverance our Lord has achieved for us. No wonder the commendation of the Lord in v.9 but notice how she was criticised (vs.4-5). Were they truly concerned for the poor (see John 12:4-6 and cf. vs.10-11)? Many may not appreciate your good works, but Jesus does.

Practice/Word Application
So What? What will you do with Jesus today? Will you serve Him in appreciation of all He has done for you like Mary or are you planning how to destroy God’s work, like the Jewish leaders or make merchandise of the Gospel, like Judas? The choice is yours, but choices have consequences.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
My Lord, may I never be a part of any evil plan against your kingdom but to always be a vessel of your blessings to humanity.
