OPENING PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 4:14 – 5:10

MESSAGE: SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE 3RD MARCH 2021 DEVOTIONAL
The office of the priesthood was a very great honour. The priest stood between God and man. He represented God and his will to men and in similar way, he represented man and his case to God. What about Jesus’ priesthood is most encouraging (4:14,15)? Unlike the earthly High Priest who went into the most holy place in the Temple, Jesus ascended into heaven and ministers in heaven. He is before the very throne and presence of God.
Christ, unlike other priests did not need to offer repeated sacrifices for sins for himself and others for he had no sin (see Isaiah 53:9b). Thus, Christ’s priesthood is by far superior and greater than the Aaronic priesthood. Notice the great invitation to us Christians in 4: 16.
Contrary to the kind of leadership that we see in many parts of Africa, the Aaronic and Christ’s priesthoods show that leaders are to be servants of the people, good models, empathetic, sympathetic, humane and sensitive to the needs of their people (5:1-5). To be a leader like Jesus, we need to embrace his life of humility and obedience (5:8-10; see also Philippians 2:5-11).

Closing Prayer:
• Thank you, Lord, that you were tempted in every way like us but without sin. Help me to be more like you in every aspect of my life.
• Pray that God will help you to have a deeper love for others, like Jesus who so loved us and gave His life for us.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Proverbs 3:24 – If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
