Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 4 December 2022

Many times, we celebrate what God has done for us, but have you ever rejoiced over what God stopped or prevented from happening? V.3 shows us how desperate the priests and the Jewish leaders were in their quest to harm Paul. Our reading today reminds us of the fact that God works out every situation for our good (Romans 8:28). Many are the times God works on our blind side to prevent evil plans from happening.

Just like Paul, you could have fallen into the trap of the enemy, lost your job or even met your untimely death through a deadly disease. But somehow, God, in His own mercies, sheltered you. Praise the Lord! As Paul stood in his defence before Festus (vs.8‐12), he knew that justice could not be found in Jerusalem; hence his bold decision to appear before Caesar. Take note how this aligns with God’s earlier message to him (23:11). God continues to use Paul’s legal knowledge and Roman citizenship for His purpose in his (Paul’s) life.

Practice/Word Application
So What: Be reminded that our Christian walk doesn’t necessarily make life easier for us, but it guarantees us this confidence, that even amidst life’s challenges, God is always on our side (Romans 8:31, Matthew 28:29b).
