Scripture Union Daily Guide 4 May 2024 OUTLINE
We often complain when passing through challenging times even when it is due to our failing. Our actions have consequences and when the consequence comes, we should not blame God. Notice the main cause of Israel’s temporary rejection in vs.1c-3.
God’s people complained that God has treated them severely, but Isaiah clearly declared that they have themselves to blame. God has been like a husband and Father. He never divorced their mother or sold His children. Babylonian captivity was simply their making. The history of the people has been the slighting of God even when God gave His helping hand by sending His prophets to them, but these they ignored. See 2 Chronicles 36:16&17. When you too face calamities in life do you blame God for them?
Vs.4-9 may apply to the Prophet Isaiah himself who God used to write these messages to His people, or to God’s people when they turned in obedience to the Lord, or, and most importantly, the coming Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. This was perfectly fulfilled in Him. Lastly, identify how you could personally apply these as your way of life. God still speaks to us day by day. It is our duty to discipline our listening skills to hear Him.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus. Open our ears Lord and help us to listen.
