Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 5: Is there any warning for me to heed?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 March 2023

When locusts invaded some East African countries in 2020, several people were affected, especially farmers whose crops were literally eaten up. Food production and sustainability is a global concern. Most times in our world, it is poor and vulnerable people who are most affected. Wealthy people tend to use money to avoid disasters. In today’s passage, no one is ok left out of the disaster that comes as God’s judgment.

The nation and all peoples were affected by ‘the day of the Lord’ which is a visitation of deadly consuming locusts that spared no one. In this case, because the Lord is the commander of the locusts as judgment, money or status could not save anyone. The remedy is repentance, genuine repentance (see vs.12-13a). All are called to repentance including elders, children, bridegrooms, brides, priests and ministers (see vs.16-17).

Friends, we do not need to wait to see disasters such as the one in this text before we turn to the Lord in repentance. Let it begin now and with us, with me.

Closing Prayer
‘Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.’ (Psalm 139: 23-24)
