Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me divine guidance as I read and meditate on your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:34-42

MESSAGE: SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE 7TH FEBRUARY 2021 SUNDAY TODAY
Today’s passage opens with a most interesting statement made by Jesus. See v.34! The major determinant of how family members would relate after Jesus steps into the scene is choice. Family members who choose to believe and follow for the rest of their lives are set apart for selfless service to God as opposed to those who reject Him (vs.34-36).
While Jesus is not preaching hatred for one’s family because one becomes a Christian, He makes it clear that your commitment to Him makes you uphold values that are quite different from parents or siblings who may not have accepted the salvation He offers. Such total commitment to Christ (vs.37,38) makes the sharp difference. Also read Mark 8:34. A lot of courage is required here, as one could be isolated and even hated (v.39).
Vs.40-42 show the benefits of identifying with Christ against all odds. Can you list them in your notebook? Sometimes the Lord would use your consistent walk with Him to draw the same relations who hated you to Himself and grant them salvation.

• I have decided to follow Jesus No turning back, no turning back. You take the whole world but give me Jesus I’m satisfied, I’m satisfied.
• Pray for the activities of interdenominational Christian fellowships – OFNC, ACF etc. – in their ministry to foreigners
Offer a prayer of faith in line with 2 Samuel 22:17 (nlt) – “He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters.
