Scripture Union Daily Guide 8th June 2025 Outline

Observe how Cornelius’ faith is put into action as he and his household and friends wait for Peter, the Jew, to come to his house (Acts 10:24). By entering the Gentile’s house, Peter proves that his heart has indeed been touched by God. He will no longer “call anything impure that God has made clean” (Acts 10:15). Are there any related issues in your life that you are still struggling with? Allow the Lord to reveal His ways to you.

Note the reaction of Peter to Cornelius’ attempt to worship him (Acts 10:25-26). Christian leaders must never accept or demand worship from their members. All worship goes to God alone.
Read Acts 10:34-43 again. Peter did not begin his sermon by emphasizing Cornelius’ sinfulness and need for salvation.

Instead, he began with a statement of God’s righteous character; that Jews and Gentiles are equally sinners before God (cf. Galatians 6:15). He then presented the gospel by summarizing the life and mission of Jesus Christ. What a model evangelistic message. When evangelising, we too must bear in mind that we are not to attack people’s sins but to present the good news.
What is the significance of Acts 10:44-48? The Holy Spirit ‘drove a final nail on the coffin’ of the dividing wall between Jews and Gentiles.

Holy, Holy, Holy
1. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

3. Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name,
In earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Closing Prayer:
Lord, help me to overcome every form of prejudice that can hinder me from proclaiming the gospel to others.
