TOPIC: STAND YOUR GROUND

Opening Prayer: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:1-11

MESSAGE: Scripture Union Daily Guide 9th November 2020

The devil often uses discouragement, feelings of failure or inadequacy, loneliness and rejection to destroy our faith or drive us away from the Lord. The devil may have tried these on you. How did you handle such challenges? He tried some of these by challenging Paul’s apostleship.

Notice how Paul handled the situation in vv.4–6. We see that (1) Paul’s leadership was based on the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, (2) he used divine weapons with divine power to destroy his enemy, the devil’s strongholds and (3) he would not be intimidated so that he retreats. What an encouraging challenge for us!

Peter asks us to watch out and be alert because the devil is prowling around seeking Christians to devour. We must stand firm and resist him, and he will flee (1 Peter 5:8–9). Be clear and confident about your relationship with your Lord Jesus Christ and have knowledge of the work you are doing.

You will stand victorious. When opposition and discouragement come from among Christians or your family, it becomes more unsettling and creates much doubt about where you stand as a believer. Stand firmly on your ground. Your Lord will never leave you (Isaiah 43:1–2).
