TOPIC: TOO MUCH IS NOT ALWAYS HELPFUL
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 25:15-28
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
People often say, ‘Too much of everything is bad’. The point here is to live with good balance and moderation in every area of our lives. From vs.16 & 17, in which two practical ways should we daily apply this principle and why? We can never have too much of God and His righteousness, but we must never use God as an excuse when we step beyond His clear boundaries. Look at the powerful imagery cited in vs.18&19 – a club, sword or sharp arrow; a bad tooth or a lame foot.
To what are they compared in these verses and what do they teach us? Whenever we are tempted to give a false testimony or to become unfaithful, let us remember these painful imageries and stop right there! There is great confusion among Christians today regarding what to do with our enemies. What kingdom principles can we find in vs.21&22 to guide our discussions and practices on this subject? Compare Romans 12:19-21.
Self-Control is a great and much needed Christian character in the church and society today. How does v.28 relate to each of the practical and very common life issues mentioned in vs.23-27?

Closing Prayer
• Lord Jesus, please help me to bear the spiritual fruit of self-control, know and keep your boundaries and balance in my daily life for your glory!
• Thank God for His love, making the way for the gospel train to keep moving on in spite of oppositions. Pray against laws in Europe, U.S.A. and Canada that are repressing Christians, under the false guise of freedom, diversity and inclusiveness.
