Scripture Union SU Daily Guide 19 June 2021 – Call To God’s Service or Ministry
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE UNION SU DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY 19TH JUNE 2021
TOPIC: CALL TO GOD’S SERVICE OR MINISTRY
OPENING PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: Ezekiel 1:1-14
Question(s) for Reflection:
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Ezekiel was among the Judean exiles in Babylon. Because of Israel’s rebellion against God, He handed them over to their enemies to rule over them. We must take caution and send sin out of our lives before it sends us out of God’s presence! At the age of thirty, when people normally enter active priestly ministry (Numbers 4:3), God revealed His glory to Ezekiel (vs.4-14), preparatory to his commissioning as prophet by God Himself (chapter 2).
Youths can serve and live for God even in the midst of backsliders (Judean exiles) and unbelievers (Babylonians). Each of the living creatures in the vision had four faces, symbolizing God’s perfect nature, strength, dignity and diligent service. The people in exile had lost their perspective of God’s purpose and presence and Ezekiel came to them with this great vision from God. The purpose was to show God’s awesome glory and holiness, and to warn the exiles of sin’s consequences before it was too late.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer:
• Dear Father, show us your glory and splendour that we may praise you as we ought and serve you with all diligence. We need this lightening appearance in our time oh Lord!
• Pray to God for wisdom to do your work with diligence and integrity.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with
• Jer. 37-39; Matt. 27:1-26
