Ezekiel engaged in so many dramas at God’s command, including trembling and shuddering in fear while feeding. God’s explanation is, unfortunately, a common experience for most Africans (vs.17-20). Guerrilla warfare, civil disobedience, political violence, ethnic conflict, religious intolerance, etc, cause anxiety, despair, violence, desolation and wastage in all aspects of life. There’s only one effective cure: new life in Christ and living by God’s Word.
Apparently, the people of God have heard the same message so many times they have even developed mocking proverbs: all warnings or visions come to nothing (v.22) or are for “the distant future” (v.27). Probably they were used to false prophesies and futile threats. What was God’s reply to each (vs.23-25, 28)? Read also 2 Peter 3:8-11. There is serious temptation to neglect or postpone responding to God’s Word because of delayed fulfilment.
Never take lightly what God presents so gravely and repeatedly (see Hebrews 10:31). We must spread the message of the Master with the urgency it entails. In his letter to the Romans, Paul writes that the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth quickly and finality (Romans 9:28 (NLT); compare Revelation 10:6).

Pray for the Christian Elders and Senior brethren among us. Pray for their lives and their faith in Christ. Pray that God will continue to strengthen them to finish strong in this race. Pray for Amazing Grace Assembly.
