Seeds of Destiny Devotional Today — 19 October 2025 | Dr Paul Enenche

TOPIC: MADE BY THE COVENANT.

SCRIPTURE: And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: GENESIS 14:22-23.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No matter your background, your connection with God makes you a progenitor of blessed generations.

Our anchor scripture tells us of the consciousness of Abraham to the covenant that existed between him and God. It was the covenant that made him not desire or keep what was not his. He decided to focus on God as his source and not man. That was why he refused the proposal of the king of Sodom to keep the spoils of war.

Beloved, let your prosperity be ascribed to God and God alone. Abraham became a generational blessing and reference point through his Covenant with God.

Now, seeing how covenant-minded Abraham was, it is important for us to explore some of the things that the Covenant did for him:

1. The Covenant made Abraham move from obscurity to generational influence (Genesis 13:2). Abraham moved from being an unknown personality to becoming a generational principality, a man who could not and still cannot be ignored.

2. The Covenant moved Abraham from curses to blessings (Genesis 12:1-3).
Abraham’s family background was full of misfortunes – Haran, his brother died early, Terah, his father started a journey to the land of Canaan but could not finish the journey, and Nahor, another brother existed without relevance. Yet, from the same lineage, Abraham became a channel of generational blessings.

Beloved, no matter your background, your connection with God makes you a progenitor of blessed generations.

3. The Covenant moved Abraham from barrenness to fruitfulness (Genesis 21:1-3). The Covenant turned Abraham into a father of nations.

4. The Covenant moved Abraham from an individual to an institution (Genesis 14:13-17). With 318 trained men born in his house, Abraham fought and defeated the armies of five nations. Covenant connection gave him authority and influence at international level.

Now, let us look at some of the things that sustained Abraham’s covenant relationship with God.

1. Unconditional obedience. Abraham obeyed God’s command to leave his father’s house, separating from idolatry and wrong associations.

Beloved, covenant obedience requires absolute separation and submission to God’s will in life, marriage, work, and lifestyle.

2. Uncompromising integrity. Abraham refused to touch what was not his (Gen. 14:22–23). He would not enrich himself with Sodom’s goods. Covenant people don’t live by corruption or shortcuts; they rely on what heaven provides.

Remember this: No matter your background, your connection with God makes you a progenitor of blessed generations.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Make up your mind to depend absolutely on God as your Source.

2. Value your covenant walks with God and stay obedient all the way.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to walk in the covenant with absolute obedience and surrender to You, Lord. Thank You for making me a generational blessing by the covenant, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
