TOPIC: THE POWER OF LIVING BEYOND SELF
SCRIPTURE: Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Nehemiah 2:17
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A vision that is beyond self comes with an unusual drive. It attracts supernatural backing and manifestation.
Vision is a critical necessity for life and destiny fulfilment.
However, it is important to note that it is not just any kind of vision that is critical to life. Selfless visions, visions that are beyond self or personal interests are the kind of vision that have positive impacts on life and destiny.
A major key to a life of purpose, impact, and Divine help is possessing a vision that is beyond self. A genuine vision must not be driven by selfish gain, personal benefit, or human praise. A true vision must be bigger than the one who conceived the vision.
Nehemiah was a good example. In Nehemiah 1:3-4, Nehemiah heard about the broken walls of Jerusalem and the suffering of his people, and he was moved to tears. He was not seeking fame or recognition—he was burdened by the condition of God’s people and God’s city. That burden became his vision, and it attracted the backing, favour and provision of God.
David was another good example. He also had a vision that was beyond himself. In 1Samuel 17:26, he confronted Goliath not to make a name, but to remove the reproach from Israel and honour the Name of God. His drive came from a deep passion for God’s glory, not personal gain.
ASSIGNMENT (S):
1.Re-evaluate your vision for living; is it self-centered or God-centered?
2.Ask God to give you a vision that impacts His Kingdom and humanity.
3.Do all it takes to fulfil the vision.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from selfish ambition. Give me a vision that will glorify You and be a blessing to humanity, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
ABOUT: Dr. Paul Enenche is a distinguished Nigerian pastor, medical doctor, gospel singer, and author. He is the founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria. Born on June 4, 1968, in Otukpo, Benue State, he transitioned from a medical career to full-time ministry in 1996, following a divine calling. Under his leadership, DIGC has grown into one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal churches, with its main auditorium, the Glory Dome, seating over 100,000 people .
Dr. Enenche is renowned for his dynamic preaching, emphasizing holiness, faith, and the demonstration of God’s power through healings and miracles. He is married to Dr. Becky Enenche, who co-pastors with him, and together they have four children.
