TOPIC: THE DYNAMICS OF PRAYER.

SCRIPTURE: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. HEBREWS 11:6.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Prayer is a spiritual force with expected spiritual results.

The Scripture makes it abundantly clear that prayer is dynamic and can have tremendous power. Prayer is not just a mere devotional duty with minimal practical impact.
Some people think that they owe it as a duty to pray. Yes, it is a duty, but it goes beyond that.
Prayer is not only what happens during crises, needs or emergencies. We don’t pray simply because there is a need, a crisis or an emergency.

Prayer is a spiritual force with expected spiritual results.
There is tremendous power in prayer. If that is the case, how can we experience the dynamism of prayer?
In today’s study, we shall examine the factors or forces that make prayer both functional and effective.

1. Prayer is established on the basis of a functional relationship between man and God (Matthew 6:9). Relationship is the first thing that makes prayer functional and resultful. The principle here is that relationship comes before requests. You make requests on the basis of relationships. You don’t just see anyone on the street and request things from them. You don’t make requests without a prior relationship; you make requests because there is a relationship.

2. Prayer is established on the platform of God’s Promises to His people (2 Peter 1:3-4). We gain boldness at the place of prayer because God said, “I will do this, or I will do that.” The promises of God are the premises of prayer. When you are inside His promises, you are on the premises of prayer. The clearer the promises are for you, the stronger your prayer life will be. The more detailed you know His Promises, the more forceful your prayer.

So, everyone who must pray effectively must be in the premises of the Word. Hosea 14:2 says, ‘Take with you words, and turn to the Lord…’ Look for the promises, gather them, and turn to the Lord.
3. Prayer is established on the basis of the knowledge of the Almightiness and Omnipotence of God (Jeremiah 32:17).

Beloved, God can do all things; He is not bankrupt of power or might. The Almightiness of God means we are not serving a God who is weak and whimpering.
We are not serving a God who is begging or apologizing to get things done.

Therefore, determine to approach prayer on solid Scriptural grounds and not on the grounds of sentiments. This is how you can see the dynamism of prayer in your life.
Remember this: Prayer is a spiritual force with expected spiritual results.

ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Ensure you have a personal relationship with God.
2. Determine to approach prayer on solid grounds and not on the grounds of sentiment.
3. Hold on to the promises of God and approach Him with boldness at the place of prayer

PRAYER: Father, help me to know You. Give me the grace to pray effectively and to receive answers, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
