TODAY’S TOPIC: NEW ENCOUNTERS
SCRIPTURE: “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.” (Matthew 2: 12)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
It is instructive to note that after Herod got into the equation of the wise men that went to seek out Jesus, God appeared to those wise men in their dream and warned them not to go back to Herod. Herod showed up, and the next thing that happened to the wise men was that they encountered God in their dream. Opposition from Herod arose, and the wise men rose to a new level of divine encounters. Herod elicited divine encounter.
Friend, whatever Herod that has emerged on your pathway is a call for divine encounter. Herod did not show up so that you can become more afraid than you have ever been. Herod showed up so that you can discover new dimensions in God. Herod stood on your way so that you can begin to see the Lord in your dreams and in visions. Herod showed up so that divine revelation can be unveiled to you. Herod is your divine visitation plug.
Notice that the wise men did not stop their journey because there was a Herod on their way. They didn’t even know of Herod’s evil plans until God revealed same to them. As 2022 makes way for 2023, focus on your journey and ignore the ‘Herod’s of this world. Focus on your growth; focus on improving yourself; focus on hitting the targets you set out to hit; focus on becoming all that God wants you to become. Stay focused.
The emergence of Herod is not an indication for you to stop your journey; it is simply an indication for you to journey more into God and with God. Your ‘Herod’ is God’s way of drawing you closer to Himself. Your ‘Herod’ is God’s strategy for keeping you focused and purposeful. Your ‘Herod’ is God’s way of giving you eyes that see and eyes to see. Herod showed up so that God can be made more manifest in your life and through your life.
Remember, if Herod ever shows up on your way, don’t walk away. Simply draw closer to God and He would show you how to escape the antics of Herod.
Isaiah 6: 1 says: “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”
Declare With Me: I won’t abandon my journey because of Herod; every opposition will lead to encounter, in Jesus’ name!
