SU Daily Guide 18th February 2022 Message
The promise of a great Deliverer was first given to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15. However, it was the prophecy of Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15 which gave to Israel as a nation the idea of a coming Deliverer.
God confirmed this to King David as a son through whom “Your house and your kingdom shall endure for ever before me; your throne shall be established for ever.” (2 Samuel 7:11‐16). From that time onwards, Israel had the hope of a great Deliverer, (Messiah in Hebrew and Christ in Greek) who would set the nation free from all foreign rulers and make Jerusalem the capital of the world. Peter recognized his master as the Messiah (v.20).
However, Jesus Christ had to explain to him and the others that He was a different Messiah from the one the nation was expecting. He was not a Messiah only for Israel. Also, He would not fulfil only the nice bits of the messianic prophecies in their Scriptures but ALL of it, including Isaiah 53. This was why nobody must be told as yet, (v.21). The disciples themselves first needed to understand the lessons of vs.22‐26.

So what? Praise the Lord today for the fulfilment of the angel’s prophecy in Luke 1:32‐33.
