Sunday 6 March 2022 Prayer – 1st Sunday of Lent

1st Sunday of Lent

Deuteronomy 26:4-10. Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble – Psalm 90(91):1-2, 10-15. Romans 10:8-13. Luke 4:1-13.

The creed of the Christian

What does it mean ‘to be saved’ that Paul speaks of in his letter? At a literal level I could take it to mean that I have been saved from the dangers in my life’s journey, that God is looking after me. At another level I could take it to mean that while my life’s journey has had setbacks, and dead ends and sudden turns, I believe that God is always offering me God’s guidance.

My life is not a series of accidents and coincidences. I do not have the heavy burden of responsibility for making it turn out right. Instead, God has saved me from this struggle with meaning. God has revealed to me that the best I can do is to listen to God’s word and act with love every day. I trust in God to guide me through life.
