THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God has a good plan for me.
SCRIPTURE: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. – Isaiah 55:8 (NIV) ( The Upper Room 22 March 2022)
In the spring of 2020, my husband and I were taking care of our dog, Kohl, after he had broken some vertebrae. Kohl was only 10 months old and usually had lots of energy. But his injury had forced him to lie still in a confined area inside our garage for weeks. As I took care of him each day, I listened to his whines; I saw the sadness in his eyes and the urge he felt to break out of his cage and run free. But I knew if Kohl were let out of confinement, he could further injure himself, even so badly that he could become paralyzed.
As I reflected on this situation, I thought of our great caretaker, God. I thought about how sometimes my life seemed bleak and discouraging; I didn’t trust that God had a good plan for me. I had forgotten to “lean not on [my] own understanding.”
When we feel restricted in life, it could be because our minds are limited. But God’s ways are limitless. I have found my hope for living in trusting that God’s plan for me is full of goodness, love, and a joyful future. If I ever begin to doubt that promise, I have only to read the Bible and spend time with God in prayer.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, forgive us when we doubt your goodness to us. Remind us of your loving ways that bring us joy in living. Move us to live in service to others. Amen.
PRAYER FOCUS
Those who struggle to trust God
