THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
I will continue to look for ways to share the Good News.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. – Colossians 4:6 (NIV)
I have three very good friends. We have known each other for over 30 years and have been through many things together: births of children; deaths of family members; job changes; multiple moves; many long, serious conversations; and many deep, hearty laughs. The four of us are as close as sisters, but there is one challenge — two of us are Christians and two of us are not.
My Christian friend and I often strive to witness with our words and actions when we are all together, and we have prayed for opportunities to share our faith with our dear friends. We have tried to “make the most of every opportunity” to talk about God’s work in our lives — how God gives us strength and wisdom and walks beside us. We have also prayed we would “be wise in the way we act” toward our friends. The importance of being God’s ambassadors is not lost on us. We know that our actions likely speak louder than our words in our witness.
Although it sometimes pains us to see our efforts not bear fruit, we have faith and peace knowing God’s work is not complete and the answer is in God’s hands. We are committed to doing God’s work by letting our conversation be always full of grace and seasoned with salt.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, help us to witness by our words and actions. May you make us into ambassadors for you. Amen.
