THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
My situation may be challenging, but God is always good.
SCRIPTURE: Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. – Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
Today’s Message: The Upper Room Devotional 5 March 2022
My doctor recently diagnosed me with a myoma, a noncancerous tumor around my uterus. He gave me a round of medicines and asked me to come back when they ran out. I took my prescription and prayed, asking for prayers from my family in Christ as well.
I was sure I had recovered, but my checkup revealed that the myoma was still there. I was disappointed. But I felt God ask me, “Lina, am I a good God?” I was speechless. After a few minutes I was able to answer, “Yes. You are very good to me.”
I thought of David’s words in Psalm 23. With God as my shepherd, I lack nothing. God makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside quiet waters.
But there are also moments of life, David acknowledges, where we walk through the darkest valley. And even in those times, we can fear no evil because God is with us and the darkness is not permanent. In today’s reading, David does not ask, “Why did you put me here?” when facing the darkness. Rather, David proclaims trust in his Good Shepherd. I too can proclaim trust. God is with me through all my challenges.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Good Shepherd, thank you for walking with us. Because of you, we do not need to be afraid. Because of you, we can overcome all challenges. Amen.
PRAYER FOCUS
