THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
My prayers sustain my loved ones and strengthen me.

The Upper Room Devotional For 17th December 2022

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. – Psalm 91:9-11 (NIV)

When my daughter left to study in another city, I was alone for the first time in my life. This was a big transition for me. I had grown used to caring for my daughter and teaching her. We spent almost all of our time together. It was difficult to let her go, but it was necessary. This is the normal course of life. In contrast, my daughter, filled with hopes, dreams, and excitement, was happy for her independence.

As a Christian parent, I find great comfort in prayer. Every day I trust my daughter’s life into God’s hands and ask God to provide her protection and wisdom. Even though my daughter is now an adult and living in another city, prayer is one way that I can continue to care for her every day. I have found that prayer also gives me strength and helps me adjust to a new stage in my life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, we are grateful that we can trust our loved ones to your care. We ask you to protect and bless them every day. Amen.
