Open Heaven 15 March 2019 – Don’t Get Carried Away by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

TOPIC: Don’t Get Carried Away!

MEMORISE: “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither against the workers of iniquity.” – (Psalm 37:1). Open Heaven 15 March 2019

READ: Psalm 37:1-9 (KJV)
1. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

MESSAGE – Open Heaven 15 March 2019 – Don’t Get Carried Away:

In today’s Bible reading, the Lord instructs us three times not to fret (worry or be envious) over the prosperity of evildoers. This should indicate to us how important this issue is to His heart, and it should also establish the fact that the righteous can fall into the temptation of aligning with evildoers because of their prosperity.

We must not get carried away by the “success” of unbelievers, especially whey they dangle their evil carrots at us so that we can join them in their unrighteous deeds. Even Asaph, a chief Levite, was faced with this dilemma. In Psalm 73:3?-8, he confessed as follows:
“For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily”.
He was in this state until God opened his heart to comprehend the final destiny of all unbelievers (Psalm 73:17?-22). In like manner, so many children of God are becoming envious of sinners today. Open Heaven 15 March 2019 – Don’t Get Carried Away

If you feel this way, God is asking me to tell you that your godliness is not in vain. He is taking account of your watchfulness in doing His will, and in due season, He will show the wicked world that you were right and they were wrong.

Beloved, it is a lie of the devil when people tell you that everyone is crooked and so you should join them in being corrupt. Just as He did in Elijah’s time, God has reserved in this generation an unimaginable number of His children who have made up their minds to follow Him wholly (1 Kings 19:14&18).

The story was told of two soldiers during the reign of terror in the Soviet Union, who stormed the meeting place of some Christians and threatened to kill whoever confessed Jesus Christ. They also gave the opportunity of freedom to those who wanted to change their minds of their faith. Open Heaven 15 March 2019 – Don’t Get Carried Away by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

Unfortunately, some of these Christians denied Christ and were allowed to go. Once they had left, the soldiers shut the door and revealed their true identities as children of God. They deliberately did what they did to weed out false brethren so that they could safely worship with true Christians. Today, ungodliness is in vogue because it seems to pay off. It is not true, beloved of God, especially when you consider what becomes of unbelievers at the end of their lives.

I encourage you to stay on the path of holiness because whosoever endures to the end shall experience the ultimate in God’s salvation (Matthew 10:22).

PRAYER POINT(Open Heaven 15 March 2019):

Father, please help me to keep holding fast to the word of salvation till I see you in glory.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 7-9, Isaiah 63:15-64:12

HYMNAL: Hymn 2 – Oh Jesus, I have promised

1. Oh, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend:
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.

2. Oh let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.

3. Oh let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control;
O speak and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.

4. Oh, Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in Glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my Friend

5. Oh, let me see Thy footmarks,
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone.
Oh, guide me, call me, drawn me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then to rest receive me,
My Savior and my Friend.

Open Heaven 20 June 2019 – More Than Conquerors

Open Heaven 20 June 2019 – More Than Conquerors, written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

TOPIC: More Than Conquerors

MEMORISE: “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God” – (1 John 5:5).

READ: Revelation 12:9-11 (KJV)
9. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Open Heaven 20 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

To conquer is to overcome and have domination over a person, territory or kingdom. It therefore follows that a conqueror or overcomer is someone who has been able to defeat or overpower a person, territory or kingdom to the point of surrender. The word ’conqueror’ is also a military term which describes a person who has come out victorious from a war or conflict situation. Who then is our adversary? The answer is found in Ephesians 6:12, which says:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Through this verse we understand that our greatest enemy is the devil and his kingdom. As mere mortals, it is absolutely impossible to consider overcoming the devil in any form of contest. However, we speak of being conquerors on the basis of God’s declaration concerning us in (1 John 4:4), which says that God in us is greater than anyone in the world.

Furthermore, we have the confidence to confront our enemies because God’s Spirit assures us in Roman 8:31 that if God is for us, no one can successfully stand against us. Indeed, regardless of the challenges we face in life, we are more than conquerors through the love of Jesus (Romans 8:36-37). Obviously, Jesus is the ultimate conqueror and overcomer. He fought for us, and through His conquest, we are more than conquerors, having obtained victory over the devil without having to fight him.

Today: Open Heaven 20 June 2019 – More Than Conquerors

The Bible records many examples of winners and conquerors, but the greatest of them all is our Lord Jesus Christ. He triumphed over the devil in two spectacular ways that are worthy of mention. Firstly, in Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus faced the devil in a most crucial contest of self-control, knowledge, wisdom and power, but He overcame, giving the devil a technical knockout through the power of God’s word. Secondly, the devil masterminded the unwarranted arrest, orchestrated the sham trial, and inspired the wicked execution of our Lord, not knowing that Christ would totally destroy him through His subsequent death and resurrection (Hebrews 2:14), (1 Corinthians 2:7).

Colossians 2:15 says,  “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
When Jesus died, He went to hell, where He captured the devil and freed his captives. He paraded the devil and his cohorts in an open show of shame, confirming His supremacy over the kingdom of darkness. No matter how hopeless your situation may be or the fierceness of the battle against you, I decree that your enemies will be disgraced and you will be victorious, in Jesus’ Name.

PRAYER POINT (Open Heaven 20 June 2019):
Father, make my enemies submit themselves to Your presence in my life, and let every gate blocking my progress open unto me of their own accord, in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 19 June 2019 – The Sure Antidote For Lack, written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

TOPIC: The Sure Antidote For Lack

MEMORISE:
“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” – (Proverbs 11:25).

READ: Luke 6:27-38 (KJV)
27. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest; for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven;

38. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Open Heaven 19 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

The greatest challenge confronting most people all over the world today is how to meet daily financial needs. In many cases, the inability to settle essential bills has led to broken homes, stress, sickness, mental illness and even suicide. Poverty seems to have driven a great number of misguided people into vices like gambling, prostitution, gangsterism, drug peddling, human trafficking and other serious illegal activities.

However, God is not unmindful of our financial situations and troubles; rather, He is moved by compassion to prosper His obedient children. God’s desire for His children to enjoy all-round prosperity is revealed to us in (3 John 1:2), which says: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
I keep telling my children that our Father’s ultimate desire is to see that we are all blessed. God wants us to dwell in His blessings and not live at the mercy of unbelievers. Indeed, the more wealth the Lord releases to us, the more His kingdom on earth will be expanded. Don’t believe those who tell you that you are not supposed to be wealthy as a follower of Christ.

This is a false doctrine. God’s word says that you are to lend to nations and not borrow (Deuteronomy 15:6) adding that His blessings make us rich and add no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22). The Bible also says in Psalm 35:27b: “Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant”.

However, before you can take possession of your divine wealth, you need to use certain keys that will separate you from poverty and bring you to the realm of unprecedented riches in God. Luke 6:38 tells us that giving is the expressway to prosperity and the antidote to poverty, as it deals with poverty in a way that permanently eliminates lack in a person’s life (2 Corinthians 9:6). Let us establish some key points here. First and foremost, according to Luke 6:38, giving draws blessings to the giver. Secondly, while we are not expected to be frivolous with money, we must not conserve more than necessary, to the extent that it prevents us from fulfilling our obligations to God or helping the poor and needy. Proverbs 11:24 says:
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”
May God reward you abundantly for your past, present and future labour of love in His vineyard in Jesus’ Name.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to honour You with everything I have, in Jesus’ Name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Numbers 20-21, Lamentation 3:25-60

HYMNAL:
Hymn 1 – There shall be showers of blessing1. There shall be showers of blessing;
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.

CHORUS:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2. There shall be showers of blessing;
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

CHORUS:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

3. There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, Oh Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come and now honour Thy Word.

CHORUS:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

4. There shall be showers of blessing;
O that today they might fall,
Now, as to God, we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

CHORUS:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

5. There shall be showers of blessing;
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

CHORUS:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

Open Heaven 18 June 2019 – In Need Of Deliverance?, written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

TOPIC: IN NEED DELIVERANCE?

MEMORISE:
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” – (Acts 10:38).

READ: Luke 4:18-21 (KJV)
18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Open Heaven 18 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

Captivity describes the halted and confirmed state of an individual, community or nation by an external power. This term also denotes the state of people under the bondage of sin and demonic oppression. Only Jesus Christ has the power to set people free from all forms of captivity.

Deliverance happens when a person is rescued from forces of bondage or overwhelming circumstances such as danger, suffering and sin. Deliverance focuses on captives, prisoners of war, slaves, debtors, suspected criminals, condemned sinners and the oppressed, who are often treated with great cruelty and indignity. Another focus of deliverance is individuals dominated by forces of darkness.

Sadly, many people are suffering because they do not know they are in bondage or see that they need deliverance. Irrespective of the form of deliverance that is needed, the good news is that Jesus Christ was specially anointed for the purpose of setting captives and prisoners free. Isaiah 61:1-3 prophesized it, and we see the manifestation of its fulfillment in today’s Bible reading.

Living in oppression in especially pathetic because it is practically impossible for anyone in this state to make any progress in life or be delivered through self-help. Stagnation, disappointment, failure, fruitlessness, sickness and misfortune are all possible indications that a person needs deliverance. I prophesy to anyone experiencing such evil conditions that you shall be delivered today in Jesus’ Name.

There is hope for your deliverance because there is a powerful Saviour and Deliverer who is able and willing to deliver you – His name is Jesus. All power in heaven and on earth belongs to Him. Everyone and everything is subject to His authority; even demons are powerless before Him. Once He speaks, demon obeys, and at the mention of His Name, they flee and people are delivered.

Today: Open Heaven 18 June 2019 – In Need Of Deliverance?

Once again, I decree in the Name of Jesus, receive deliverance from every form of bondage now! Do you need deliverance? The first step is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and join a living church. You must then make every effort to avoid self-destructive acts of immorality and sin.

Finally, brethren, call upon the Name of Jesus by faith, relying on His word in Romans 10:13, which says:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Do this, and you will begin to enjoy the liberty that Christ gives. Halleluyah!

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please set me free from any evil captivity I am in today, in Jesus’ Name.
