Key Verse: . . . all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags . . .  —Isaiah 64:6

Message: Billy Graham Devotions 15 May 2019

The Bible teaches that all our righteousness—falling short of the divine standard as it does—is as filthy rags in the sight of God. There is absolutely no possibility of our manufacturing a righteousness, holiness, or goodness that will satisfy God. Even the best of us is impure to God. I remember one day when my wife was doing the washing. The clothes looked white and clean in the house, but when she hung them on the line they appeared soiled and dirty, in contrast to the fresh-fallen snow.

Our own lives may seem at times to be morally good and decent; but in comparison to the holiness and the purity of God, we are defiled and filthy. In spite of our sins and moral uncleanness, God loves us. He decided to provide a righteousness for us. That is the reason that He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross.

Why does God choose to love us in spite of? Listen to Billy Graham’s sermon on the mystery of righteousness.

Prayer for the day
My life is like a gray pall beside the whiteness of Your purity, Lord Jesus. Cleanse me this day.

Billy Graham Devotions 27 May 2019 – A Sacred Institution

Today’s Topic: A Sacred Institution

Key Verse: Follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. —Romans 14:19

Message: Billy Graham Devotions 27 May 2019

The home is basically a sacred institution. The perfect marriage is the uniting of three persons—a man and a woman and God. This is what makes marriage holy. Faith in Christ is the most important of all principles in the building of a happy marriage and a successful home. The secret strength of a nation is found in the faith that abides in the hearts and homes of the country.

A strong marriage starts with God at the center.

Prayer for the day
May we so love one another, through You, Lord Jesus–that our homes will be reflections of the glory of Your inestimable love.

Billy Graham Devotions 26 May 2019 – Jesus Is Matchless

Today’s Topic: Jesus Is Matchless

Key Verse: You have your life through Christ Jesus. He showed us God’s plan of salvation; he was the one who made us acceptable to God . . .  —1 Corinthians 1:30 (TLB)

Message: Billy Graham Devotions 26 May 2019

More and more I am becoming aware of the truth that people change people as much as ideas change people. The power of personality is strong. One could find many illustrations to prove that often personality is greater than the idea. Such is the case with Christianity.

The secret of the power of Christianity is not in its ethics. It is not in Christian ideas or philosophy, although Christianity has a philosophical set of ideas. The secret of Christianity is found in a Person, and that Person is the Lord Jesus Christ. Men have discovered other philosophical and ethical systems, but they have not found another Jesus Christ. No one in history can match Him.

What makes Jesus so special? Billy Graham explains.

Read and share this resource explaining the importance of Christ.

Prayer for the day
When I tell others of Your love, help me to hide my personality in Yours, Lord Jesus.

Billy Graham Devotions 25 May 2019 – His Indwelling Presence

Today’s Topic: His Indwelling Presence

Key Verse: . . . to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. —Ephesians 3:19

Message: Billy Graham Devotions 25 May 2019

To appreciate art, one must either be born with an artistic sense or develop it by training. Only a relatively few people have an innate sense of color, form, and harmony. To such, a love for art comes naturally. Without an artistic appreciation in one’s soul, visiting an art gallery can be a boring affair. Likewise, to appreciate good music one must have music “in him” or develop it.

Without a sense of music appreciation, it is possible to sleep through a symphony concert or a performance of the Metropolitan Opera. So it is with the things of God.

Talk about God can become dreary and lackluster if God isn’t in you. Church can become a drab thing and the Bible an irksome Book if the Holy Spirit does not illuminate your soul with His indwelling presence. The wonderful thing about it all is that God has planned life so that if our hearts are dead to spiritual things, something can be done about it.

Let this article help you grow closer to God.

Prayer for the day
Lord God Almighty, may I daily reach out to You and be filled with the love of Christ.
