Anglican Daily Fountain 13 March 2023 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TODAY’S TOPIC: THE POWERFUL AND MERCIFUL GOD

TEXT: Mark7: 24-8: 10(NKJV)
7:24 From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a house and wanted no one to know [it,] but He could not be hidden.
7:25 For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet.
7:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

7:27 But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw [it] to the little dogs.”
7:28 And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.”
7:29 Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”
7:30 And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.

7:31 Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee.
7:32 Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him.
7:33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue.

7:34 Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”
7:35 Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly.
7:36 Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed [it.] 7:37 And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

8:1 In those days, the multitude being very great and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples [to Him] and said to them,
8:2 “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat.
8:3 “And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar.”

8:4 Then His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?”
8:5 He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.”
8:6 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke [them] and gave [them] to His disciples to set before [them;] and they set [them] before the multitude.
8:7 They also had a few small fish; and having blessed them, He said to set them also before [them.] 8:8 So they ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets of leftover fragments.

8:9 Now those who had eaten were about four thousand. And He sent them away,
8:10 immediately got into the boat with His disciples, and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

Anglican Daily Fountain 13th March 2023 STUDY:

Today’s text, shows the power of Jesus over demon possession, deafness, dumbness and His ability to feed four thousand with seven loaves and few fishes. What an awesome God who has power over all impossible situations such as bondages, lack and diseases. Of a truth, with God all things are possible unto them that believe (Luke 1: 37; Mark 9: 23).

God is faithful and cares for our wellbeing The Gentile woman was outside the covenant yet received help from Jesus for her daughter. This Syrophoenician woman and the deaf and dumb obtained God’s mercy by faith, which remains the key to accessing all the possibilities in God. This woman was humble, dogged and refused to give up even when Jesus wanted to dismiss her. Unfortunately, the disciples who were closer to Jesus doubted the possibility of feeding a large crowd with few resources.

Beloved, are you in lack, the God of multiplication and provision is there for you. Are you troubled by intractable bondages or sickness, the miracle working Jesus is there for you? He is ever accessible in spite of the timing and location. You must have the mindset that your help can ONLY come from God and He will surely help you. Come unto him today in faith and present all your needs and problems for his attention. He will happily provide you with the best solutions.

PRAYER: Make your request of anything you need from God using the name ofJesus.
