TODAY’S TOPIC: BE AWAKE AND KEEP WATCH

TEXT: Mark 13:32-37(NKJV)
32. ” But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
33. “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
34. “[It is] like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.

35. “Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning —
36. “lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.
37. “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

TODAY’S DAILY FOUNTAIN STUDY:

Today is the last day of the year! All glory, praises and thanks be unto God for His grace and mercies. As the year ends, we are drawing closer to our end on earth and the second return of Christ. Today, Jesus tells us what we ought to be doing. Each one of the servants in the story was given work to do by his master, and each was to do the work until he returned. No room was given for rest or sleep as the master would return unannounced.

It’s not their business to know when he would return but it was their business to be watchful, alert and be found busy when he returned. As the year ends today, show gratitude to God through a re-commitment of your life to His service as you wait patiently, watchfully, prayerfully and hopefully for His return. Keep watch also over the condition of your own life.

Even if He delays, you will not live on earth forever. Be faithful to His call, work and walk faithfully in His service, watching and waiting. Take your mind off the New Year preparations for a moment, and think about the deeper, more important preparation you have to make. The heart that Christ wants from you is a watchful, waiting heart. Jesus is worthy of your watching for Him to come. Come, Lord Jesus!

PRAYER: Father, help me to live today and everyday as if it is my last day on earth. Amen.
