TODAY’S TOPIC: A SPECIAL LENTEN GRACE
SCRIPTURE: Rend your hearts, not your garments… Joel 2:13
If you and I just follow the minimum Church requirements for Lent, we will likely feel disappointed when the forty days are over. What is it that we truly desire? I think we all want to encounter the Lord more deeply.
Obviously, we cannot make this happen. It has to be a grace offered and accepted. But we trust that this is what the Lord wants for us as well. Truly, God wants to have an intimate encounter with us infinitely more intensely than we do.
As Lent begins, in addition to prayer, fasting and almsgiving, let us turn to the Lord and pray for just such a grace:
Heavenly Father, I know that you intensely desire to embrace me with your infinite love. I pray for a special grace to open my heart during these forty days and to welcome you in love.
