CATHOLIC MASS REFLECTIONS AND PRAYER 4 APRIL 2022
Topic: Communion in Christ
Scripture: And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come. – Psalm 23:6
My five kids are scattered around the country. Most of my nearest blood relations are deceased. I have good friends, some I see frequently, others hardly at all. It’s not unusual or sad—it’s just the way life goes, right?
And what about the people I don’t actually know in person but somehow feel connected to? And what about…everyone else? So many unique lives, each created and beloved by God.
What a blessing, then, to have the gift of the Eucharist. When I’m at Mass, what a comfort it is to know that in that moment, the communion I yearn for with others is real and present. It’s communion in Christ across the world, across time and space—dwelling in the Lord’s house—in deep communion with all my brothers and sisters, far and near, for years to come.
Jesus, thank you for bringing us, your family, into your dwelling place with you through the Eucharist.

Prayers & Blessings
Morning Prayers: Praise to you, O Lord, for the dawn of a new day. May the same Spirit that gives life to all of creation give me new life today. Open my heart in welcome to all that you wish to give me today. Bless the people I will encounter and help me to be an ambassador of your love for them. I pray that I may do your holy will in all things, through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
Lord, in the song of the birds I hear your delight in all of creation. In the warmth of the sunlight and the rain, I feel your care for all living things. In this new day, help me to let go of what happened yesterday and avoid too much concern about what will happen tomorrow. You have given me life this day, and with it I have everything I need to be happy. Help me to see my blessings and appreciate them. Amen.
Lord, I have obligations that I need to fulfill today, but to tell you the truth, I am not looking forward to it. I do, however, want to trust that all things will work together for good through your loving providence. May the mysterious action of the Holy Spirit transform all my actions into greater glory for you and for the salvation of the whole world. Amen.
Evening Prayers: Gracious God, you have given me the gift of life so that I might have the fullness of joy through Jesus, your Son. As this day draws to a close, I place myself in your hands. May all my worries, concerns and fears dissolve in confidence that your mercy will last forever.
Renew in me the hope for a brighter future, faith in your providential care and love for those nearest to me, especially those who need it most. Help me to grow in trust that I have done the best I could and that you will be with me all the days of my life. Amen.
In the stillness of this night, I call to you, dear Lord, to make me aware of my faults and transgressions this day. In your mercy, help me heal any wounds my actions have caused; help me learn from my mistakes and omissions; give me the patience and compassion to attend to the needy, so that I may model your love in this world. Amen.
Lord, I place in your hands the unfinished business of the day, the hopes I had at its beginning and the regrets I have now at its end. Thank you for the times I felt your presence in the satisfaction of accomplishment and the enjoyment of your good creation, especially the people you have placed in my life. Amen.
