In good Human Resource Management practice, before a final decision is made about a major appointment, all the key references and testimonials must be considered. This information helps to confirm that they are going in for people of integrity. Indeed, men and women of highest integrity are required for God’s kingdom business in the church and Christian ministry.
Here, Paul testifies about Timothy and Epaphroditus, two gallant workers, with whom he labours to promote the gospel. He presents them as examples of self-denying humility and service to him and the Philippian church. Notice how Timothy’s humble service is demonstrated in vs.19-24. How about that of Epaphroditus (vs.25-30)? The examples of these two spiritual sons of Paul challenge our concept of understudying mentors as we serve them. Do you have a mentor? How do you relate with them if you do?
There are many servants of God who are battling with one form of ailment or another (v.27). Pray for the Lord’s healing as Paul did for Epaphroditus following his heart cry.

Closing Prayer
Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
All His wondrous compassion and purity.
O thou Spirit Divine, all my nature refine;
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.
