TOPIC: ENJOYING GOD’S DELIVERANCE (DCLM Daily Manna 12th May 2021)

TEXT: Esther 9:29-32
29. Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

30. And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,

31. To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.

32. And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

KEY VERSE: “Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim. And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth.” – Esther 9:29,30

TODAY’S DCLM DAILY MANNA 13 MAY 2021 TODAY

The Bible is replete with great stories of how God delivered His people from the deadly plots of wicked people. One of such is what we are considering today in the book of Esther. The evil decree of Haman lived after him, even after he was dead and buried. In today’s text, Esther the queen had been given the authority to write counter letters to that evil decree. The day the Jews were to be exterminated was turned to a day of peace and celebration.

Purim is a Jewish celebration where they send portions to one another to celebrate their deliverance from ethnic cleansing some hundreds of years ago. And that the feast is still being celebrated in modern Israel, proves to mockers of the Holy Bible that everything written were not cunningly devised fables; they are clear historical facts that could still be empirically verified.

God’s work is usually two-dimensional; there’s a man’s part and a God’s part. God’s part may be ninety-nine, but He expects man to play the one-percent part for the work to be complete. This is a principle in His work, including salvation, healing and deliverance. The Israelites in exile got Purim; signifying deliverance from Hamanic genocidal plot partly because they waited on God to help them and partly because God had promised they were not to be exterminated in a strange land.

God is always in the business of saving His people, whether during oppression or persecution. There is never going to be a cataclysm, a total destruction of God’s people at any time or in any age. That is because God is faithful and He also expects us to faithfully abide in Him. He had been the One faithfully delivering Israel from all her challenges. And He is ever at hand to deliver the redeemed in any generation.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God is faithful to deliver as we faithfully abide in Him.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 15-16
