On May 20th, 1521, St. Ignatius was wounded by a cannonball during the Battle of Pamplona. On March 12th, 1622, a hundred years later, he was canonized. Welcome to today’s Holy Mass presided over by Pope Francis on the 400th Anniversary of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s canonization is part of the Ignatian Year 2021-2022, a worldwide celebration that began May 20, 2021, and will end July 31, 2022, on St. Ignatius’ feast day.
