Joel Osteen Devotional 5th July 2025 Inspirational Saturday Message
Today’s Topic: “Did You Not?”
Scripture: “O our God, did you not drive out those who lived in this land when your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land forever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?” – 2 Chronicles 20:7, NLT
Today’s Word
In the Old Testament, when people were facing difficulties, often they would start their prayers by reminding God of who He is and thanking Him for what He’d done. They would look back at the times when God had made a way. This is what King Jehoshaphat did in today’s Scripture. He and the people of Judah were surrounded by three powerful armies. The people met together and prayed, “O Lord, You are powerful and mighty and no one can stand against You,” and reminded God of all their past victories. That fueled their faith.
They knew God did it back then and He would do it again. When you look back over your life, you have some of these “Did You not?” stories to remember what God has done. Perhaps it was that sickness He brought you through, how He turned your child around, or how He directed you to and helped you finance the house you’re in now. Make sure you’re recognizing His favor, thanking Him for His goodness, and reminding Him, “Did You not?”
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for every time You have intervened in my life and brought deliverance and helped me defeat what has come against me. Thank You for all the times when You’ve shown me that You are at my side. I bless You that You are my God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
TODAY’S INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: Hebrews says, “Make sure that no root of bitterness springs forth and defiles you.” It describes bitterness as a root. A root is underground. You can’t see it. But if you let it grow, it’s going to spring forth. A bitter root will produce bitter fruit. What’s on the inside is going to show up on the outside. We try to fix the fruit. We deal with the symptom, but the fruit is not the real problem, we need to go to the source and get rid of the root. Proverbs says, “Guard your heart for out of it flow the issues of life.”
One of our main responsibilities is to keep the toxins out. Keep those roots from springing up. Offenses are going to come. Cranky coworkers will come. Disappointments, hurts, jealousy, anger will come. You can’t stop it from coming. The question is: are you going to let it take root, get down in your spirit, contaminate your joy, steal your peace, take your energy, open you up to sickness, trouble, defeat? No, keep your soul healthy.
