Joel Osteen Devotional 8 May 2025 Inspirational Message
Today’s Topic: Irrevocable
Scripture: Then Jesus told her, “I AM the Messiah!” John 4:26, NLT
Today’s Word
Jesus had stopped and was waiting at a well in Samaria when a woman came to get water. He asked her for something to drink. She said, “Sir, Jews don’t have anything to do with us Samaritans. Why are You asking me?” Jesus said, “If you knew who I am, you’d ask and I would give you living water.” Then he told her all about her life, how she had had five husbands and was living with a sixth man. There’s no doubt that people looked down on her and shamed her.
She knew there was something special about Jesus. She said, “We know that one day the Messiah will come.” Jesus said to her, “I AM the Messiah.” The first person Jesus ever told that He was the Savior wasn’t the high priest or the Sanhedrin. He chose this despised woman whom society had written off as a moral failure. God doesn’t choose the way we choose. He never writes you off. He never gives up on you. His calling on your life is irrevocable, which means He doesn’t change His mind.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You chose me to be Yours before I chose You and that my mistakes and failures cannot nullify Your calling. Thank You that You come to the well where I am to give me eternal life even though You know everything about me. I declare that You are my Messiah. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
A true friend doesn’t pressure you into doing things you don’t want. They don’t try to manipulate you into getting their way. That’s people with hidden agendas, ulterior motives. A true friend will celebrate your success. They’re not competing with you, trying to outperform you and always one-up you. Friends are happy when you succeed.
Are you spending time and energy trying to keep people happy who have ulterior motives? Are you doing things out of guilt or pressure? If you don’t meet their expectations, they’ll get upset. Maybe you have some people with hidden agendas trying to take advantage of you, wanting only what you can do for them. Pay attention to who’s in your life. Listen to the warnings on the inside. Don’t override that uneasiness, that knowing that something is not right. That’s God speaking to you.
Remember, you will know them by their fruit, not by their words, but by their actions. Notice patterns that aren’t right, things that never change. God is going to show you people who have hidden agendas. He’s going to reveal wrong motives. You don’t have to be rude to them; just start spending less time with them. If you’ll weed out the wrong people, God will bring the right people: people who want the best for you, people who push you forward, who are loyal, trustworthy, people who help you become all you were created to be.
