We all have things we’re believing for. One day we’re going to get well, one day we’re going to break the addiction, one day we’re going to meet the right person. We’ve prayed, we’re standing in faith, waiting for it to happen. But Jesus gives us an important principle in Mark 11. He said, “Whatever you ask for when you pray, believe that you have received it, and you will have it.” He didn’t say believe that it’s going to happen, believe that you’re going to see things turn around. He said believe that you receive when you pray. Believe that it happened right there, not in a week, not in a month, but right when you prayed, things changed in your favor. God set the miracle in motion.

David had all kinds of opposition: armies trying to stop him, people slandering him, his family looked down on him. But in the middle of that, he said, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” His circumstances said he should be discouraged, afraid, lonely, bitter. That would have been the truth. But David made a declaration of faith. He said, “Despite the opposition, I will be happy. Despite people lying about me, I will be happy. Despite my family not believing in me, I’m going to live this day happy.”
