TODAY’S JOYCE MEYER DEVOTIONAL 16 AUGUST 2022, TUESDAY
TOPIC: Control Your Tongue
Scripture: For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. — James 3:2 (AMPC)
MESSAGE: Jesus used great wisdom and restraint with His words because He fully realized the power they had. Proverbs teaches us that the power of life and death is in the tongue (see Proverbs 18:21). We need to be reminded very often of this truth, and we should pray regularly for God to help us control the tongue, because we certainly cannot do it without His help.
Let me simply encourage you today to say things that are positive and filled with life, rather than giving voice to negative comments that are filled with death. When our words agree with God’s Word, we will see amazingly good things happen in our lives.
Prayer Starter: Father, in Your name, I will speak in agreement with Your Word, rather than according to how I feel or what I think, amen.
