TODAY’S TOPIC: COMING OF CHRIST
Fire Scripture: Luke 12: 31-40
Today’s Outline: MFM Daily Devotional for 18th February 2021 Message
We have established the Scriptural truth that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, will return. The Scriptures also affirm that when the Second Coming of Christ takes place, He shall bestow rewards on believers. Revelations 22:12 says, “And, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his works.” Let us examine those rewards. The first reward is that the saints will receive honour from the King (Jesus Christ).
What kind of honour will the Lord bestow on His faithful servants? Luke 12:37 provides the answer, “Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.”
Second, the saints will fellowship with the King. John 14:3 affirms this in these words, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Third, every saint of God, at the return of Christ, will have likeness to the King. Philippians 3:20-21 says, “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” MFM Daily Devotional for Thursday 18th February 2021 Message
It is a wonderful thing to be changed to be like the Soon Coming King and to fellowship with Him. Another reward that Christ will bestow on the saints when He returns is that they will glory with Him. The Holy Spirit, giving this blessed assurance to believers, wrote through Paul that, “ When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).
In addition, the Bible assures that when Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd shall appear, the saints shall receive fadeless crowns (1 Peter 5:4). Finally, when Jesus Christ returns, believers will have the grace to have the beatific vision of God. The “beatific vision” means the eternal and direct visual perception of God. It means seeing God face to face. 1 John 3:2 affirms this.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” My prayer is that you will not miss any of these rewards, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Memory Verse: Matthew 16:27: For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Motivational Quote: For every disciplined effort, there is a reward.
Prophetic Word: The voice of “Get behind me, thou worker of iniquities” will not be your portion, in the name of Jesus.
HYMN: Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall comer
1. When Jesus comes to reward His servants,
Whether it be noon or night, Faithful to Him will He find us watching,
With our lamps all trimmed and bright?
Chorus
O can we say we are ready, brother?
Ready for the soul’s bright home?
Say, will He find you and me still watching,
Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come?
2. If, at the dawn of the early morning,
He shall call us one by one,
When to the Lord we restore our talents,
Will He answer thee Well done?
