This year, I encourage you to take full advantage of the inestimable benefits that the word of God offers every believer. The word of God is a very potent and highly veritable weapon that heaven has made available to all believers to reign in life. Let God’s word dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). Delight in it and meditate in it day and night. Let it be your standard for living. You will be like the tree that is planted by the rivers of water that brings its fruit in its season. Your leaves will not wither and all that you do will prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).
When Joshua became Moses’ successor and God saw the herculean task before him, He gave him the weapon and prescription for success: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8-9). Similarly, as you begin the journey of 2023, make God’s word your companion and trusted weapon for victory, success and all-round fulfilment. Study it daily, memorise it, meditate on it and quote it to overcome the tempter and accuser, as Jesus did in Matthew 4:4-11. Make it your compass throughout this year and beyond. Let it be a lamp for your feet and a light on your path; you will find divine direction for your life and huge success in your endeavours.
In addition, the word of God is described as the word of righteousness and as strong meat. It will help you to mature as a believer and to discern both good and evil (Hebrews 5:14). I counsel you to make yourself a word addict this year; study it to show yourself approved as a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). More importantly, this year, endeavour to be a doer of the word of God than in the years gone by. This will be your best year ever, in the name of Jesus.
PRAYER POINTS FOR TODAY 3RD JANUARY 2023
MORNING
1. Father, give me the grace to love Your word more than my necessary food, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, make me a doer of Your word, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, let Your word be a spiritual weapon that will move me from victory to victory this year, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. O God, let Your Word give life and health to all areas of my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. I declare that the word of God shall always be my standard for living, in the name of Jesus.
6. This year and beyond, the word of God shall be my compass and I shall enjoy divine guidance, in the name of Jesus.
7. Father, by the power in Your word, perfect all that concerns me, in the name of Jesus.
