MFM Daily Devotional for 17 April 2021 Today Saturday written by Pastor D.K Olukoya. Be blessed and inspired by today’s reading.

TOPIC: THE POWER OF PATIENCE ( See MFM Daily Devotional 16 April 2021)

Fire Scripture: Romans 5:1-11

OUTLINE: MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 17TH APRIL 2021

The Bible describes patience as one of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Patience is one of the attributes of God. God is longsuffering. He is patient and tolerant in His dealing with us. God expects us to be patient in everything we do. Apostle Paul warns the people of Thessalonia not to be rash and unruly but to be patient with all men (1 Thessalonians 5:14). Being rash and erratic is a sign that we are being controlled by the flesh (the old man) and the Holy Spirit is not in us.

One of the signs of a Holy Spirit-controlled life is patience and calmness even in the face of adversity and tribulations. Jesus demonstrated this attitude to us in several ways. When He was in the ship and there was a great storm and His disciples began to panic, he was not ruffled. He rebuked the storm calmly (Mark 4:35-41).

Similarly, when He was being led to the cross for crucifixion, he was calm and went through the humiliation and mockery with love and patience. Patience is a sign that we have faith and hope in God when we are faced with troubles (Hebrews 6:12). Abraham was patient with God and through that he inherited His promises. Joseph went through tribulations in prison, but he overcame through patience and perseverance.

One of the qualities of true ambassadors of Christ is patience (1Timothy 3:3). Anyone desiring the office of a bishop must be patient. There is no love without patience. Charity and patience are two of a kind. Ecclesiastes 7:8 tells us that pride is the enemy of patience. One of the reasons why we fail to exercise patience is pride.

Humility will subject itself to patience and tolerance. Patience is not a sign of fear or cowardice. It is a sign of strength and trust in God. This was demonstrated by Job who endured tribulation in patience (James 5:11). Also, according to James 1:4, we are made perfect in patience. As we go through trials and troubles and we overcome through endurance and patience, we become a vessel unto honour in the hand of God (2 Peter 1:6).

Memory Verse: Ecclesiastes 7:8 – “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.”

Motivational Quote: Patience is the hallmark of a true believer

Prophetic Word: You shall recover every good thing that impatience has destroyed in your life, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing
