MESSAGE For DCLM Daily Manna 28 October 2022 Devotional:

Aman once sat on a chair in his courtyard, clutching the day’s newspaper. His attention was not on the newspaper, but the children who were playing and chattering innocently in the compound that housed persons of different nationalities. He thought of his own country and the on-going conflicts there, caused by ethnic hatred and wondered how the world would be if everyone was sincerely friendly as those little kids.

From the text, little children were brought to the Lord so that He would lay hands on them and bless them. But the disciples forbade them. In a sharp rebuke, Jesus told them to allow the little children to come to Him, because to such belonged the kingdom of heaven. He thereafter laid His hands on them and blessed them.

Children are God’s favourites because they are humble and unassuming. They are sincere about how they feel and what they know. They easily forgive and forget, and they are teachable, having absolute faith in whatever they are taught. They are not ashamed to identify with their parents anywhere, no matter how poor those parents may be. They are inquisitive, adventurous and willing to learn.

Jesus wants believers to be like these children in order to enter into the Kingdom. We should pray for grace to be childlike and constantly weigh our lives in the light of the word of God. We must also do good to others in practical terms. We must love our enemies and neighbours.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Childlike simplicity opens the door to heaven.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Proverbs 21-23
