Scripture Union Daily Guide 29th June 2026 Outline

King David’s longing to see Absalom (2 Samuel 14:1) sets in motion Absalom’s soon return despite all the crimes associated with him. Why was this extraordinary longing? Preferential treatment that compromises justice began long ago. This act must be discouraged. The understanding that nobody is indispensable will discourage evil. What were things that qualified the choice of the woman from Tekoa for the errand to the king (2 Samuel 14:2,3)?

Important service to important person is given to someone with unquestionable reputation and integrity to avoid misrepresentation. Can you be counted upon to be sent as this woman was and she did the work with amazing result? In 2 Samuel 14:4-20, we notice the woman’s courtesy, engaging presentation, and praises to the King. Her skills in presentation made the King to commission Joab to do the needful (2 Samuel 14:21).

Many in the corridor of power work to meet their personal needs and not that of the master. Many servants with this kind of quest have ill-advised their leaders with shameful outcome, especially in the church and government (2 Samuel 14:21-24). Why did David ask Absalom not to see his face (2 Samuel 14:24)? Let our forgiveness be total and not partial.

Closing Prayer
LORD, we ask for godly interventions that will lead to the return of those driven away from you by sinful lifestyles and relationship.
