TOPIC FOR TODAY PROFITING FROM THE WORD

TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:14-17
14. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;

17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

KEY VERSE:
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” – (2 Timothy 3:16,17).

MESSAGE For DCLM Daily Manna 30 October 2022 Devotional:

The French teacher who had come into the class looking for someone noticed Rhoda was reading and smiling. She had stood by her for some time unnoticed by Rhoda. “What are you reading?”, she eventually asked. “Oh, I am reading the word of God” Rhoda replied, “And is it what had kept you smiling all this while?”, the teacher asked. “Yes”, she answered, “there is so much warmth and light in the word of God”. The teacher left, feeling a little disappointed because she had thought Rhoda was reading a “love letter”.

From the text under consideration, Timothy was instructed by Apostle Paul to continue in the things he had learned; knowing the Source of that truth. This is because, from a child, Timothy had known the Scriptures, which are able to make one wise unto salvation in Christ. The Scriptures, inspired by God, is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness and for the perfection of believers and the church in general.

The word of God is so important because without it, man would not know God or His will. The Word opens our eyes to how God created man, how man fell and the consequences of that fall. It reveals the solution to man’s sin problem: repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ultimately, the Word saves, cleanses from sin, preserves the believer in righteousness and heals. The Word is spirit and life. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and can discern the intents of the heart. It is like a hammer that breaks the hardness of heart in pieces. It is God’s revelation to man. Let us read it, study it, meditate on it, confess it, practice and preach it.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The Scripture is a treasure from our Creator.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Proverbs 27-29
