Redemption Ministries Bible Study Outline 13th April 2021 – The Christian And Prayer (4)
CHURCH OF THE FIRSTBORN
WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY
April 13, 2021
TOPIC: THE CHRISTIAN AND PRAYER (4) CULTIVATING THE ACT OF PRAYER
Memory Verse: Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thess. 5:16-17.
To cultivate means to improve or develop by careful attention, training or study. It requires one devoting time and thought to get (cultivate) a better attitude in carrying out a duty. We are called to REJOICE EVERMORE which creates an enabling environment for always being in the mode of prayer. You will need your mind to be shut off from the cares, troubles and deafening challenges of this world.
No sincere Saint from the Old Testament to New Testament under-rated the role of prayer. They grew in the place of prayer and none of them was ever sent away empty. They turned their world, changed laws, affected lives and nations through prayers.

HOW CAN I ACHIEVE THIS?
1. CONSISTENCY: Ps. 72:15; Dan. 6:10-11; Luke 3:21; 18:1; Mark 1:35; Acts 3:1; (Prov. 22:29). In every aspect of human life and calling, deliberate effort must be made if you desire to achieve your goals. Systems that have been consciously built over the years are made to function effectively. Start today. Be consistent. Ward off all forms of distractions and focus on the moment of prayer. It is this consistency over a period of time that builds a sweet relationship in the place of prayer. Ps 42:1-2.
2. CONSECRATION: Ps. 55:17; Mark 1:35. To consecrate is to dedicate formally to a religious purpose. When a man sets apart certain hours of the day to commune with God, such a period is consecrated unto Him. No distractions, phone calls / answering of calls, no listening to side discussion etc. (An average Moslem understands this). You are completely out of the world’s influence and locked up under Heaven’s influence.
3. COMMITMENT: Ps 5:3; 88:13; Luke 3:21. Whenever a man is fully committed to a cause, he can sacrifice or go to any extent to ensure it is accomplished. Life’s battles are first fought and determined in the realm of the spirit before they are made manifest in real life. When we love prayer by activating our attitude towards it, it becomes like an involuntary action (such as breathing) which we cannot do without. When we think of how committed we are to Facebook, social media, zee world, Noolywood, European league, our personal business, etc. than we are to prayer, then we stand before Him guilty.
