Scripture Union Daily Guide 1 July 2024 Outline:
Emission of semen from a man and woman’s monthly flow of blood (menstruation) made them and anyone or anything that comes in contact with them unclean according to the law. This does not mean that sexual intercourse or menstruation is sinful. Sex was created by God so a man and a woman can derive pleasure in their marriage and for procreation. Menstruation is one of the processes God designed to make a woman fruitful in life. It is a natural process of life. However, God is concerned about our health and wellbeing in community.
God required the Israelites to handle these two matters with dignity and care. The same is true for us today. Do you handle your sex life with utmost dignity? Sexual uncleanliness is not limited to fornication or adultery. It includes every form of sexual perversion in mind and body. Any sexual deviation requires cleansing through confession, repentance and forsaking the unclean thought and action.
Read v.31 again. What is the purpose of all these regulations and how do they apply to Christians today (1 Peter 1:15-16; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17)? Can you think of things that may not be sinful in themselves but can hinder our fellowship with one another and with God?
