Scripture Union Daily Guide 11 January 2026 Outline
Psalms 107:1-3 serve as introductory verses to Psalms 107. “The redeemed of the Lord” refers to those who through faith in God have experienced His deliverance and help out of life’s hazards and hardships. The passage primarily applies to the post-exiled Israelites who, after going through various adversities in the hands of their enemies, were brought back to their own land (Psalms 107:3). This can also apply to Christians who have gone through deliverance from sin and hell and are walking in liberty with God.
There are four distinct groups of people called upon by the Psalmist to give God thanks for helping them out of their difficulties and predicaments. They are those who wandered in the desert (Psalms 107:4), those who went through darkness and the shadow of death (Psalms 107:10) and those who were fools through their sinfulness and their iniquities (Psalms 107:17). Notice how they secured their deliverance in Psalms 107:6,13,19. How did God respond to them? See Psalms 107:20-21.
We can experience the same mercy if we follow the same line of action (2 Chronicles 7:14; Proverbs 28:13 & 1 John 1:8-10).

Insight
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
To God be the glory
1. To God be the glory,
Great things He has done;
So loved He the world
That He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life
An atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate
That all may go in.
Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father,
Through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory,
Great things He has done.
2. O perfect redemption,
The purchase of blood,
To every believer
The promise of God;
The vilest offender
Who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus
A pardon receives.
3. Great things He has taught us,
Great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing
Through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher,
And greater will be
Our wonder, our transport,
When Jesus we see.
Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, help me to always be thankful and appreciative of your deliverances from disasters and difficulties. Deliver me O Lord from rebellion and help me never to take your mercies and grace for granted but to live and walk according to your counsel.
