Scripture Union Daily Guide 15th February 2026 — Outline

What causes people to prophesy lies in the name of the Lord and do it confidently and convincingly? Has the individual lost touch with God or is it a deliberate act? Notice the confidence of the false prophet (Jeremiah 28:2,10-11). The people, including the priests, who were listening to this encounter between the two prophets must be really confused especially all who could not discern between spirits.

The Scripture encourages believers to test all spirits and discern between the Spirit of God and false spirits (1 John 4:1). The false prophets may sound believable because they often give people messages of hope, whatever their state. They tend to condone or stay away from condemning sinful behaviour. They promise God’s blessings for all (but compare Romans 6:1-2a). Notice the end of this false prophet (Jeremiah 28:17). Judgment may not be as swift or as dramatic as we see here (Jeremiah 28:16), but it is sure to come.

Many church leaders today are leading people astray by their false doctrines. Daily encounter and understanding of God’s Word will help us know His will and ensure we are neither deceived nor carried away by every wind of doctrine. Shallow leaders are leading their followers to destruction.

And So
Are you struggling with the truth as opposed to lies? Read Acts 17:11 and follow their example.

TRUST AND OBEY
1. When we walk with the Lord

In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
