Scripture Union Daily Guide 16th February 2026 — Outline

Notice the calibre of people that were exiled (Jeremiah 29:1-2). It gives us a picture of the state and emotions of the people. How does this help us to understand God’s judgment? (See Romans 2:11). Note, through whom this letter was sent, perhaps for security and its safe delivery (Jeremiah 29:3). God expressed His plans for the exiles in the letter. Identify in Jeremiah 29:4-7, those things He wants them to be doing in the land of their captivity. This proves that God is always mindful of His people even when we fall into sin. His mercies reach us (see Isaiah 49:15-16).

Read Jeremiah 29:8-9.and note God’s warning there. These false prophets, false dreamers and diviners are among the captives and are capable of turning them against God’s plan. In addition, God raises their hope by pronouncing the number of years they are to spend in captivity. Sure, there is an end to the suffering of any who hopes in the Lord (Jeremiah 29:10a). The challenge is not forever (Psalms 30:5,11-12). Note the beautiful promises of God to the exiles (Jeremiah 29:10b-14). The same applies to us today. God has beautiful plans laid out for each of His children.

And So
He has promised He will never fail, I will follow Him…. His faithfulness is forever sure….
