Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 17 November 2022

In vs.1‐3, the psalmist joyfully bursts into praise, songs, and thanksgiving to the Lord. He knows that God is honoured when we worship and praise Him. What reasons does the psalmist give for praising God (see vs.4‐11)? What reasons do you have for praising God today? Indeed, we praise Him for the gift of life, family, peace, health, relationship and His love which endures forever. “Let all the earth fear the Lord,” (v.8).

Notice what inspires worship in the believer (v.6, 7, 9‐11) and what worship generates in the worshipper. Yes, the Lord is to be feared above all others. For by His word and command things are established (v.9). Consequently, Israel, as the nation He chose for inheritance, is a blessed people (v.12). But we know that this blessing has been extended to all who have faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We have become the chosen people of God (1 Peter 2:9‐10).

What do vs.13‐15 teach you about God? How should this affect your day‐to‐day activities? Notice the vanity and folly of trusting in and relying on physical armour (vs.16‐17). On the contrary, victory and salvation is guaranteed to those who fear God and hope in His unfailing love (vs.18‐22).

Practice/Word Application
